研究兴趣 Research Interests
I am a broadly trained ecologist and geologist with research interest revolving around the complex interplay between Earth systems, climate change and human societies. My research subjects encompass a wide variety of natural and human-dominated ecosystems, spanning from coastal wetlands to Arctic tundra. Specifically, I integrate process-based modeling, in-situ and remote sensing observations, paleoecological analysis, and field manipulative experiments to address questions at scales ranging from individual plant to the entire ecosystem.
Accelerated climate change and intensified human activities are propelling world-wide ecosystem transformation, with potentially large ramifications for sustainable development. These changes motivate the key questions in my research: What is the net outcome of ecosystem response to the multifaceted impacts of climate change, will it exacerbate or mitigate future warming? How do the processes and patterns of landscape response differ between ecosystems? What are the factors underlying the spatial and temporal patterns of ecosystem response? The goal of my research is thus to prompt new scientific understanding of the dynamic biophysical and biogeochemical processes governing Earth systems, and to apply the knowledge gained to inform management actions to better prepare ecosystems and societies for future challenges.
I am currently recruiting new undergraduate and graduate students, and always interested in having postdocs and visiting scholars to join our lab or build new research networks. Please contact me directly if you are interested, I am look forward to seeing you at SYSU!
